St. Nicolas Day at St.John’s Academy

Hello and welcome to the new week!

Welcome to the week ahead filled with promise and excitement! On Tuesday (12/19), we gather at 8 am in the Crypt to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Nicholas of Myra. For morning dropoff, please use the gate on Geary.

Additionally, mark your calendars for Friday's St. Nicholas Program (12/22), taking place from 3-4 pm right after end-of-day prayers. Join us for a joyful session filled with singing, caroling, and delectable treats, including mulled wine and hot cider. To contribute to the delightful treats, bring some cash. Students are encouraged to wear regular uniforms (no PE that day). Students are also encouraged to bring and wear their favorite Christmas hats. (And, shhhh, rumor has it that a special guest may be in attendance!) Don't miss out on the festive cheer!

We have some exciting news! Get ready for an evening of joy, football, and delicious eats at the St. John's Football Watch Party & Crab Feed. Join us on Saturday, January 28, 2024, starting at 3 PM in the Great Hall at the Holy Virgin Cathedral. Your ticket covers a fantastic spread, including appetizers, Cold & Hot crab, Chicken, Pesto & Marinara Pasta, Garlic Bread, Salad, and Dessert. Plus, enjoy a complimentary drink ticket and a glass of wine. The night will feature raffle and auction activities, adding an extra layer of excitement. MONDAY:

2-3th Grade Art will be working on Christmas ornaments

6th Grade English students will explore the theme of courage in "The Hobbit," and how it relates to life in the modern world.

10/11th Grade Algebra 2 Final

TUESDAY:

St. Nicholas of Myra's Feast Day at 8am down in the Crypt

4-5th Grade Art is working on a model of an airport, working in teams.

6-8th Art is building a model of the HVC Church property, Working in teams and hand building.

WEDNESDAY:

6th Grade Math End of Semester 1 Cumulative Tests on Dec 20th and 21st

7th Grade Math End of Semester 1 Cumulative Tests on Dec 20th and 21st

7/8th Grade English students will continue reading Washington Irving Short Stories and working on creative writing of supernatural fiction stories.

12th Grade Statistics- Final Dec 20th & Dec 21st

THURSDAY: 

MS Latin and HS Ancient Greek will finish writing projects and learning Christmas songs.

10-12th Grade Studio art/Art History is finishing up the semester with a silkscreen project.

Friday: 

St. Nicholas Program 3-4pm

8th Grade Photo is developing 35 mm film and beginning to make prints from negatives.

10-12th Grade Advanced Photo/Media will be doing the " lights assignment, taking advantage of Christmas decorations up around the city
