Week at a Glance 3/4 - 3/8 Start of Trimester 5

Middle School Art finished up Church Model

Hello and welcome to the new week!

Logos, the Reason of God...

Dear Families and Friends of St. John's Academy,

A rich and meaningful Greek word you will notice on our emblem is "Logos," which means "reason," or "Word" (as in Christ, the Word incarnate). "Logos" is essential to our Christian history. But more particularly for our classical school, it is a guiding precept that makes us stand out among educational institutions.

There are some in our world that, sadly, cannot find reason in life (let alone a personal God who is the source of reason). For such folks, life may have a purpose, but this purpose is not grounded in eternity. Educational institutions that are governed by such thinking can certainly be effective, producing very smart students who go on to have interesting and successful jobs. And yet... there is something missing from their life (whether they realize it or not).

Knowledge and skills built without awareness of deeper meaning is limited. At SJA we design our educational program to reach down into the depth of knowledge to impart to students things that bring light and truth to them and the world around them. Human beings bear the Image of God and have eternal value. The world around us is created, endowed with a beauty, enchantment, and wonder that not only inspires us to know more about it but also the One who made it. The kind of students and citizens who can reason in such a way are an incredible gift to this world!

Let us reason together,

Nima Duncan
