10. Dropping off & Picking up children

Students must be dropped off at the start of the day and picked up promptly, unless they are involved in scheduled extra-curricular activities.

Parents or their designees must come into the school to pick up their children. Please note that for the safety of all our students, only officially designated persons may pick up a student from the school. Parents must notify the school if someone other than the parent on file with the office is going to pick-up a child. St. John's Academy will not release a child into the care of any person other than the parent or official designee - even if that person be a friend or family member known to the child.

Parents may visit and enter the school to drop off their children, without signing in, from 8.00 - 8.30 a.m. each morning (i.e. until the end of morning prayers). Any parents arriving or or wishing to remain on school grounds after 8.30 a.m. will need to sign in at the school office (following our normal practice for day visitors). At the end of the school day, parents may arrive without signing in, in order to pick up their children, from 2.15 p.m. onward (though in practical terms, it is better to arrive at around 2.20 or 2.25 p.m.; prayers conclude at around 2.30)

No access to classrooms is permitted without prior approval from the school office. We ask all parents to wait for their children in the school hall.

For the safety of your child, please be on time. If delays become routine, families may be billed $5.00 for every 15 minutes past dismissal time that a child remains in the school, in order to help cover the cost of staff time required to supervise such students after official school hours.

Parents should drive into legal parking spaces before dropping off or picking up their children. Please do not double park or block neighborhood garage entrances.
