Dear Parents, teachers, families & friends of St. John's Academy.
Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen! Христосъ боскресе! Воистину воскресе!
It is a joy to greet members of our St. John's community with the wonderful news of Christ's resurrection from the dead. Though every Sunday throughout the year is a 'little Pascha' and memorial of this sacred day, nevertheless on this 'Feast of Feasts' we celebrate in a special way the central truth of our Orthodox Christian faith: Christ is risen from the dead, death is overcome -- and we are united to Life!
During the recent season of Great Lent, students, faculty and staff at St. John's Academy applied themselves to seeking out repentance and love through the many graces offered by the Church. Each week the school focused on one of the virtues to which Christians are called in the life, and the Church's practices of fasting, prayer and almsgiving were exemplified in the behaviour of all members of St. John's community -- from the youngest to the eldest.
And now we have arrived together at the Pascha of our Lord, and our community has returned to the halls and classrooms of the Academy, illumined by the great joy of this Feast. We are all reminded, through the Paschal greeting that we share, that our Christian life is something different from the life of the world: it is a life that begins with the defeat of death. It is a life that overcomes all sorrow and pain and despair, filling us with new hope and delight in the love of God.
All of us at St. John's Academy wish you the many blessings of this Paschal season. May we all be illumined by the love of Christ and partake together of His heavenly Kingdom!
Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!
