On Saturday, April 21st, eleventh grader Alex Nowak attended the United States Youth Track Association Bob Shore Invitational Meet in San Jose. He was one of 950 young athletes from across the state that participated in this meet, and for this reason his outstanding accomplishments are all the more impressive: Alex placed second in the 100 meter, 400 meter and the long jump.

Mr. Nowak is no stranger to significant accomplishments. For two years in a row, he has received our Academy's St. Elizabeth Award for Service - a college scholarship given in advance to students of the Academy who show outstanding commitment to community service. This year Alex is working on his Eagle Scout Badge with a project to revitalize the playground at St. John's Academy.

Hats off to Alex for his fine showing at the Invitational and for his service to his community!
