Dear Mrs. Kotar,

The American Council of Teachers of Russian (ACTR) is pleased to include the Russian language program at St. John of San Francisco Orthodox Academy as a participant in the Prototype Advanced Placement (AP) Russian Language and Culture Program. This new program, an internet-based, enhanced curriculum and assessment instrument for Russian language and culture, has been in development over the past six years by ACTR in close cooperation with the College Board. Grants from the U.S. Department of Education and the National Security Education Program have supported the development of this project.

Your Russian language teacher Vera Skortseskull has successfully completed the 2009 Fall Professional Development Seminar, which provided instruction on the goals and practices of the Prototype AP Russian Program with special emphasis on the new Russian Web-bases curriculum, media, and teacher authoring tools especially designed for the Prototype AP Russian Language and Culture course as well as on the exam format and exam administration procedures.

Questions concerning the Russian curriculum and the Prototype AP Russian project should be addressed to Camelot Marshall (marshall@american councils.org)

Sincerely

Dan E. Davidson
President American Councils

Maria D. Lekic
Director of Curriculum and Test Developement
