This year, the St. John of San Francisco Orthodox Academy begins its school year with 'Week One': an orientation of the first week of school around the life of our community, getting to know fellow students, teachers and staff, and coming to feel a part of this unique environment. A series of special activities will orient students to our theme for the 2011-2012 school year: "'A Light that Shines': Serving God, the Church & our Fellow Man," and preparing them for a wonderful year ahead. The following is the schedule for the first week of school at St. John's this year: Tuesday, 6th September 2011 - 8.00 Office will open for parent registration / check-in; will also be open for this purpose after the Moleben.
- 8.10 Moleben for the start of the school year (Parents and families are invited to stay and participate in this service of prayer)
- 8.40 Welcome from Principal—‘What it means to be a St John’s Student’
- 9.00 Getting to know your homeroom
- 9.45 Group A: Cathedral Tour + School Tour / Boundaries, etc.; Group B: All-teacher introductions

- 10.30 Learning the school prayers
- 11.00 Introduction to the House Program / Meeting Your Houses
- 12.00 Lunch
