The final week of school is 7th-11th June, and this is an important week in the life of each and every student, and of the Academy as a whole. The schedule for these critical days is below: please read this page carefully: it is important that all students be present for all activities every day this week!
Finals are taken by students in grades 8-12. A special schedule is in place for these two days for these grade levels; other grades have classes as normal. (Note: Not all subjects/classes for grades 8-12 have finals this week: some classes will have taken finals already in normal class settings, or done end-of-year projects, etc.)
The schedule for finals during these two days is as follows.
Important note for 11th Grade students: The 11th Grade finals schedule ends at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday the 8th (see below); these students will be dismissed from school at 10:00 on that day, and are free to go home. This applies only to the 11th grade; and students and families must be aware that these 11th Graders are required back for school as usual on Wednesday-Friday.
Wednesday is a normal school day, for which all students in all grades must be in class. Teachers will have plans for their classes that may include special field trips, review sessions, preparations for summer reading and activities, etc. All students in all grades are to be in class today!
Today is a normal school day, though all classes and grades end their studies at 2:20 p.m. in order to attend the end-of-school moleben together in the Cathedral. Parents are very warmly invited to join their children and teachers at this moleben to thank God for the blessings of this year and ask prayers for the coming summer. If parents are unable to attend the service, you can plan to pick up your children at around 2:45 p.m.
This evening is the highlight of our end-of-year celebrations, with presentation of promotional certificates for each student moving on to a new grade level, granting of school and national awards, presentations on the life of the school - and, after the formal celebrations are complete, a performance of a play by grades 6-12. This is a joyful, celebratory evening at which we dearly hope all students, teachers, parents and families will attend.
The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Hall; however, students must arrive early and be in their uniforms and in their seats by 6:30 p.m. This is extremely important!
A pot-luck dinner will take place following the ceremony and brief play. The Parents Association will help coordinate parents to bring offerings of lenten food for both students and families, as well as our invited guests. Please could every family plan, as in years past, to bring a lenten dish for us to share together (lenten/fasting food, since we are now in the Apostles' Fast)!
On Friday we will conclude our school year with a full day of special activities in reward for school spirit shown throughout the year in our Great Houses program. The winning house will enjoy a day-long outing to Waterworld, while the second- and third-place houses will enjoy a special surprise event in school. This is a full school day and all parents should plan to pick up their children 2:20 p.m.
