Buon Giorno!

Buon Giorno!

Today, we finally got into Saint Peter's Basilica.  Stephan and Anton climbed up to the dome, and the rest of us wandered about and took pictures of that incredible place!

Then, we went shopping for souvenirs.  We hit the "shopping triangle" that includes Piazza del Populo, the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain.  We browsed around, bought a few things, ate gelato, and headed back to the hotel in time for a little laundry and relaxation.  The restaurant where we planned to have dinner was crowded, so we made a reservation there for tomorrow night and ate a nice meal at a place near our hotel.

By the way, the staff at our hotel has been terrific!  They have taken care of us very well.  The place is simple and rather small, but we have everything we need.  The beds are clean and comfy, and the showers are warm!  We have really lucked out on weather here, too!  Tomorrow is slated to be yet another mild, sunny day.

We will head to Ostia Antica, Rome's ancient port city, tomorrow morning.  We hope to visit Saint Paul's Basilica on the way back, finish up some shopping, pack, and finally have dinner in this restaurant called "Est, Est, Est," where we have been attempting to eat all week!

Beware, folks!  We will be home Thursday night. Now that we know our way around, it's kind of a bummer to be winding down this wonderful trip.
